Delay In Allowance Payment Irked Nuristan University Students


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) PARON (Pajhwok): Some students of the Nuristan Higher Education Institution have complained they have no hostel facility nor they were given their allowances on time asking relevant authorities to address the issue.

Fazlullah Sultanzoi, the student of Pashto language literature said, over twenty students manage to pass the test and study here but more than half of them left the faculty due to economic hardship.

“We are not paid the cash for our food since the beginning of the current semester, he said.”

Abdul Qahar is another student of Dari Language literature department he said, in addition to non-availability of hostel facility, the shortages of lecture halls and other educational items have left negative impact on the quality of our lessons and we (the students) live in some rented rooms of Paron city.

He said:“There is shortage of chairs, the lecture halls are not suitable, the cash for students food is not distribute on time, no library or computer lab for the students”.

Nuristan University Chancellor Rohullah Najm acknowledged the existence of these problems but termed the approval of Shariah Law and three more management departments huge achievements for the university.

He said, the University of Nuristan has not land to build infrastructure and the students used the building of Teacher Training Institute.

According to Najm, the students' food cash was delayed due to the late approval of the national budget, as this problem is solved now, the students will get their cash for food soon.

Najm also admitted the problems of university library and computer lab but says attempts are underway to address this issue as well.

While Saifuddin Laton, the spokesman of the governor of Nuristan admits that this university did not have land for its building but he says that the officials of this province have tried to find land for the university, but they have not been successful yet.

Laton said, Nuristan is a mountainous province and there is shortage of flat land that is why they are still unsuccessful to find some suitable land for the university.

The local officials of the governor house are struggling to buy some land for the university in a proper location, he added.

According to the figures, there are two departments at Nuristan University (Shariah Law, Education) and nearly 400 students study at this university. This university until this time does not have land or its own building.
