Hard Work & Family Support Were Key: Waseem

Dooru Shahabad- Waseem Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Bragram village of Dooru-Shahabad in south Kashmir's Anantnag district said his hard work and dedication yielded results.

“I am very happy with my performance. My aim is to serve the public because we are public servants,” he said.

Bhat dedicated the achievement to all those who supported him unconditionally. In 2015, he cracked the Joint Entrance Examination and got admission to the National Institute of Technology, Srinagar. In 2019, Bhat graduated from NIT as a civil engineer while in 2021, Bhat secured 225 overall rank in the UPSC Civil Services exam.

Parshanjeet Kour from Poonch said that she relied on self-studies with no coaching at all.

“Hard work, dedication and motivational support by the family are my success catalysts,” the 23-year-old UPSC qualifier said.

“I had high hopes of qualifying for this prestigious exam but was not sure about such a good rank,” she said. Parshanjeet also qualified for Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Services this year at the 11th mark. She had her basic schooling from Poonch and completed her graduation from Poonch Degree College; then pursued Masters from the University of Jammu.

Similarly, Dr Iram, a student of medical studies and a pass-out of MBBS in 2000, left her medical profession to become a civil servant. She originally hails from the remote Leeran village of Darhal tehsil in the Rajouri district but the family presently lives in Jammu.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) held the main examination for the Civil Services in September 2022 and Personal Interviews between January and May 2023. A total of 933 candidates have been recommended for IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and other civil services posts.

The UPSC preliminary exam was held on June 5, 2022 and the results were released in June 2022. The main examination was conducted from September 16 to 25 and the results declared on December 6 followed by viva-voce on May 18, 2023. -With Inputs from KNO
