NIDC Reports Increase in Pipeline Construction, Drilling Operations in Iran

(MENAFN) According to Borzou Torabi Raki, an official with the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), the length of oil and gas wells pipelines and the pipeline construction operation increased during the past Iranian calendar year 1401 which ended on March 20. Raki reported that the number of oil and gas wells pipeline building operations increased by 10 percent while the length of the built pipelines increased by 22 percent in the previous year. The company carried out 403 operations in an area of 712,615 meters in 1401, compared to 365 operations in an area of 558,157 meters in 1400.
Masoud Afshar, the deputy head of NIDC for drilling operation, announced that the company dug and completed the digging operation of 99 oil and gas wells during the past Iranian calendar year. These drilled wells consisted of 15 development, five exploratory, and 79 workover ones. Afshar stated that 77 wells were drilled in the operational zone of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), eight wells were drilled in the fields under the supervision of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC), eight in the fields under the operation of the Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC), two wells in the framework of a project, and four in the operational zone of the drilling management department of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
In drilling the mentioned wells, over 67,000 meters of drilling were conducted as per the announcement by the NIDC official. He further added that comprehensive planning has been done to speed up the drilling operations. Furthermore, with the reconstruction and modernization of the drilling machines and equipment, it is expected that more drilling machines of the company will be used in the oil-rich areas of the country in the current year.
The NIDC has a fleet of 73 light, heavy, and extra heavy drilling rigs, of which 63 are in operation or being moved. The official stated that the number of rigs being moved is 20. The increase in pipeline construction and drilling operations by the NIDC indicates ongoing efforts to maximize the production of oil and gas in Iran.
