Arab League Calls For Immediate Halt To Bloodshed In Sudan


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States (Arab League) has expressed deep concern and dismay over the current combat operations between the Sudanese armed forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, and other areas, calling for an immediate halt to the escalation and an end to bloodshed.
Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Aboul Gheit stressed, in a statement Saturday, the warring parties' responsibility to preserve the security and safety of Sudanese civilians in the fighting areas and throughout the country. He added that the General Secretariat of the Arab League is ready to intervene with the parties to stop the escalation and stop bloodshed.
In turn, the Arab Parliament expressed its concern over the ongoing developments in Sudan, especially the combat operations currently taking place between the SAF and the RSF in the capital, Khartoum, and other areas.
In a statement today, the Arab Parliament called on all Sudanese parties to exercise maximum restraint and an come to an immediate ceasefire to protect the lives of the Sudanese people and preserve the capabilities of the state. The Arab Parliament also called on all parties to consider the higher interests of the Sudanese people, and to work on everything that preserves the security and stability of Sudan.
