French President Emmanuel Macron Begins Three-Day State Visit to China


(MENAFN) French President Emmanuel macron has arrived in Beijing for a three-day state visit to China, leading a large delegation that will stay in the country until Thursday. Macron is scheduled to hold talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping to chart the course for China-France relations and exchange views on major international and regional issues. China's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Hua Chunying, has expressed China's readiness to work with France to advance a close and enduring comprehensive strategic partnership. Macron has also spoken to US President Joe Biden ahead of his Beijing flight, with both leaders aiming to convince Xi to mediate between Russia and Ukraine.

During his visit, Macron will also meet with Chinese Premier Li Qiang and National People's Congress Chairman Zhao Leji. The China-France trade volume has risen to over $74 billion last year, and the visit is expected to further strengthen ties between the two countries.

Macron is accompanied by a large delegation, including former French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin, President of the French Constitutional Council Laurent Fabius, ministers, lawmakers, and over 60 leaders of large enterprises. French musician Jean-Michel Jarre and movie director Jean-Jacques Annaud are also reportedly accompanying Macron for the cultural aspect of the visit.

The visit is Macron's third to China and his first during his second term as the French president. He is scheduled to visit the city of Guangzhou in the southeast province of Guangdong, in addition to his meetings in Beijing. The visit reflects the importance of China-France relations and highlights the ongoing efforts to strengthen ties and deepen cooperation between the two nations.
