Iran, Oman Strengthen Ties, as Iran, Algeria Push for Cooperation
(MENAFN) Iran's Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, recently held telephone conversations with his Omani and Algerian counterparts to discuss regional and international cooperation. During his conversation with Sayyid Badr Al-Busaidi, the Omani foreign minister, Amir Abdollahian emphasized the importance of the bilateral relationship between Iran and Oman, describing Oman as an honest friend and neighbor. He also expressed his hope that the upcoming visit of the Sultan of Oman to Tehran would strengthen their ties. The two diplomats further discussed their views on Tehran-Muscat ties, with the Omani foreign minister highlighting the need for cooperation to shorten the "long path" to regional progress.
In his conversation with Ahmed Ataf, the Algerian foreign minister, Amir Abdollahian emphasized the importance of regional and global cooperation between Tehran and Algiers. He congratulated Ataf on his new post as foreign minister and wished him success. The two diplomats exchanged views on developing ties in various areas, including the economy and commerce. They also discussed regional and international affairs, particularly the issue of Palestine. Amir Abdollahian relayed the warm greetings of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and extended an invitation for Tebboune to visit Iran, which was warmly welcomed by the Algerian side.
The telephone conversations between Amir Abdollahian and his Omani and Algerian counterparts highlight Iran's commitment to strengthening its relationships with its neighbors and to promoting regional and international cooperation. The talks also demonstrate Iran's efforts to engage with other countries on issues of mutual concern, such as Palestine. The willingness of both Oman and Algeria to cooperate with Iran is a positive sign for the region and suggests that there are opportunities for greater collaboration on a range of issues. The changes in Algeria's foreign ministry are not expected to affect the country's non-aligned diplomatic line, according to a former minister.
