General Directorate Of Endowments Supports Cardiac Patients

Doha: The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced that it continues the existing partnership with the Heart Hospital of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), to support critical cases of cardiac patients in need, through the“Nabd (pulse)Endowment” sponsored by the department's endowment fund for patients' care.

The Director-General of the General Directorate of Endowments, Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Mohammed Al Thani, confirmed during a press conference, the continuation of supporting and assisting critical cases of heart patients, as one of the main goals of the endowment fund for patients' care, and in compliance with Prophet Mohammed's directives on helping Muslims who are in distress.

He pointed out that the“Nabd Endowment” for the treatment of heart patients is one of the endowments that have recently become a part of the projects of the General Directorate of Endowments, calling on philanthropists to support and enable it to perform the desired role.

Under this partnership with the Heart Hospital, cardiac patients who unable to bear the costs of treatment are helped, in fulfillment of the conditions of the endowers, and in pursuit of the motto“Waqf is a community partnership.”

In turn, the head of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at the Heart Hospital of HMC, Dr. Abdulwahed Al Mulla, expressed his great happiness with this fruitful cooperation, and the quick response from the General Directorate of Endowments to realize its leading societal role, indicating that 49 patients benefited from this assistance during the past year.

He valued the establishment of the“Nabd Endowment” for heart patients in particular, given that the heart is one of the most important organs of the body, and any injury to it has critical effects and results.

The endowment fund for patients care is one of the main six endowment funds. It was established in pursue of the historical role of health endowments in Islamic history.

The General Directorate of Endowments at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is keen to include health projects in its various activities, given that the advancement of health services in communities is a criterion for their development and growth.

The fund is also one of the forms of community participation in health care through assisting needy patients; cooperating with the competent authorities to conduct joint health programs; holding educational training courses in the health field and utilizing various media vehicles to spread health culture among members of society.
