The Pakistan Day Parade has been cancelled, the Aiwan-e-Sadar reported on Friday. Earlier this week, the event was moved to March 25.

The parade, which usually takes place on March 23, was supposed to be conducted at the President House parking lot but was moved up because of bad weather, according to a statement from the office.

Pakistan Day commemorates the passing of the Lahore resolution on March 23, 1940, when the All-India Muslim League demanded a separate nation for the Muslims of the British Indian Empire.

Thousands of Pakistanis gather at Shakarparian ground in Islamabad yearly to celebrate Pakistan Military Day.

Earlier, the Pakistan Army decided to hold the annual parade of the armed forces on Pakistan Day on a limited scale, joining the government's austerity drive that aims at warding off the economic crisis, Dunya News reported.

The parade, postponed on March 25 due to bad weather, has been cancelled, and no reason was provided for the event's cancellation.

Even though Pakistan is experiencing a severe economic crisis, the extraordinary violence has reportedly reached a breaking point. Pakistan is experiencing its worst political crisis, with the largest terrorist attacks.

According to the Pakistan Institute for Peace Studies (PIPS), the number of terrorist attacks in the country increased by 27% in 2022 compared to 2021.

Meanwhile,“the country's external debt and liabilities have nearly reached $130 billion amid a continuing economic crisis,” Financial Express reported.

Furthermore, on last year's Pakistan parade day, Prime Minister Sharif stated that“political chaos” was the main reason for the country's economic instability.

“The challenges are topped by a combination of economic instability and the inability to settle the game's rules. An environment of political chaos explains why we have failed to develop our economy sustainably,” said Prime Minster Sharif.
