Biden receives jeers during State of Union speech

(MENAFN) During his State of the Union speech, United States President Joe Biden was interrupted by booing and yelling. Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene called him a " liar" as he questioned the GOP's economic program.

In his speech on Tuesday, Vice President Biden placed a strong emphasis on his domestic policies, praising the administration's initiatives to combat inflation, unemployment, climate change, coronairus, and a number of other issues. At one point, Biden accused lawmakers from opposing parties of plotting to eliminate welfare benefits for Americans.

He also mentioned, “some of my Republican friends want to take the economy hostage – I get it – unless I agree to their economic plans. All of you at home should know what those plans are.” Noting that “instead of making the wealthy pay their fair share, some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to sunset.”

Immediately after making the remark, Republicans began to react angrily, booing and hissing at the president as he made an effort to calm them down.
