Qatar Museums Set Out To Inspire Creative Interaction In 2023, Announces Feb Program

Doha: Qatar Museums has announced the continuation of its monthly activity in 2023 with a list of programs in February that are aimed at inspiring creative interaction among the local community.

Included in the program are a series of free workshops, events, and activities throughout the month.

Inspired and led by Qatar's diverse creative community, the program facilitates an exchange between the public and all art forms, from storytelling to guided interactive tours and art workshops, Qatar Museums said.

NMoQ

Storytelling Session
NMoQ Library
Every Monday & Wednesday, 9am - 12pm (45 Minutes)
Available in Arabic and English
NMoQ Library Team will host a Storytelling Session for up to 25 students from Grades KG, 1 and 2. Children will listen to different stories related to Qatar's environment, and after the reading, students can partake in fun and interactive activities related to the stories. Natural Environments in Qatar and Sustainability Initiatives Guided Tour

NMoQ's Leaning Team invites adults aged 16+ on a journey to discover how Qatar's geography has shaped different habitats resulting in the evolution of diverse animals, plants, and natural resources, in celebration of Qatar's Environment Day. I Really Want to Win Storytelling

Beginners Ruq'ah for Women

Lusail Museum: Tales of a Connected World Exhibition

The curators of Lusail Museum invite the public for a tour of the Tales of a Connected World exhibition, and view the world-class collection of Orientalist art, archaeological artifacts, and media dating from antiquity to the 21st century. Use Your Imagination - Creative Writing Workshop

QM Gallery – Al Riwaq (Education Space)
19 and 20 February, 4pm – 6pm (Arabic & English)
In this workshop we invite young writers (aged 12 – 16) to join us in a 2-day creative writing workshop. The first day will involve a walk-in gallery conversation, discussing individual perceptions of the collection. The class will then learn about the principals of writing a short story. The curators of Lusail Museum invite the public to an interactive guided tour of the Tales of a Connected World exhibition, and to create an artwork inspired by the various artworks on show. Participants will be encouraged to take inspiration from the way subjects expressed in paintings used to dress, pose, and look. Be Part of Your Favorite Masterpiece

Families with kids 12 years+ are invited to a workshop, where they will choose their favorite masterpiece from the displayed at the exhibition and incorporate personal photos using image transferring techniques. Participants will learn about how scenes of everyday life, whether realistic or imagined, were a particular source of interest to film makers and photographers. Travel Memories Not to Be Forgotten

QM Gallery – Al Riwaq invites teenagers aged 12 and over to examine the Tales of a Connected World exhibition and create their own travel journal. Participants will be encouraged to imagine themselves as travelers from the past, moving between old cities. Participants will learn how people used to create visual records of particular places, such as images and paintings created on travels to cities such as Constantinople, Cairo and Marrakech – cities which were bustling with trade, and of which became sites of artistic inspiration. Children aged 10 and over are invited to explore the architecture that reflects the history, culture and living conditions of people of the past, in particular, houses built from mud houses. These houses that serve as a marker of the region's heritage and historical depth, and illustrate how people of this period were able to sustain their civilization by developing this unique form of architecture. As part of the Art Mill Museum 2030 exhibition, Qatar Museums Learning and Outreach department
Invite those aged 10 years and over to a Botanical art workshop, inspired by the future Art Mill Museum's garden, and by the various plants that are native to Qatar. Dadu, Children's Museum of Qatar invites families to take part in their Dadu on Tour initiative, which looks to outreach to different communities and areas outside of the capital. Join artist Ismael Azzam for a new season of Art Lessons at Mathaf, and learn the art of portraiture, using a range of different mediums. Lessons are offered to people with basic to intermediate sketching and drawing skills. Each participant must bring their own sketchbook. Creating Logos from Calligraphy Workshop
12, 13, 26 and 27 February, 4pm - 5:30pm
For teenagers
In this workshop the participants will create logos generated from handwritten fonts and experiment with calligraphy to generate a very expressive artistic communication. Posting a Story Through Social Media
19 February, 4pm - 5:30pm
For teenagers
During this interactive workshop, participants will gain the skills and resources they need to cover stories from their community through social media. They will take on the roles of both reporters and designers, by doing research, and writing news stories, and designing a layout. They will learn how stories are structured through the use of striking headlines and captivating copy. Also they will learn how to present news through social media channels. Telling a Story Through Mobile Photography
20 February, 4pm - 5:30pm
The workshop will demonstrate how to extract relevant information interviewees, based on any topic of interest, and deliver it to the viewer. Participants will go through a step-by-step activity to prepare them for a formal interview, including critical thinking, studying various news sources, and writing exercises which follow the pyramid structure. Qatar Museums' department of Learning and Outreach are pleased to invite secondary and high school teachers to attend free training workshops and tours of the Experience Al Jazeera exhibition, for the chance to explore the growth of the popular television channel, exchange experiences, and learn ways of linking it to school curricula.
