Transport Minister: Operations ongoing to privatize four Saudi airports

(MENAFN) Works are underway to present four local airports in the Kingdom to the private industry, the Saudi Press Agency mentioned in a report reciting Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser.

The minister was giving a speech at the Municipal Investment Forum in Riyadh on Tuesday. The report recited him as stating that there are presently 22 funding prospects up for grabs in the Saudi transport industry, which is experiencing a big growth along with the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.

The total plan targets to put the Kingdom as a worldwide logistics center linking three continents, and develop all transport facilities in line with Saudi Vision 2030.

The plan seeks to draw SR600 billion (USD160 billion). Al-Jasser stated that it is important to capitalize on the investing sources by reinforcing cooperation with the private sector.

He informed the meeting that his ministry is also planning a road code to develop the Kingdom’s road quality index.
