KUNA Chief Underlines FANA Crucial Role As Major News Source


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, Sept 20 (KUNA) -- Vice President of the Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) and Acting Director General of KUNA Mohammad Al-Mannai underscored on Tuesday the importance of FANA as a major source of news in Arab countries.
The remarks was made by Al-Mannai to KUNA, after his participation FANA General Secretariat meeting, held on the sidelines of the 97th session of the Permanent Committee for Arab Media meeting.
FANA is one of the mechanisms of joint Arab media work operating under the umbrella of the League of Arab States and the Council of Arab Information Ministers, he pointed out.
During the meeting, the committee discussed several issues, including preparation for the work of the 49th General Assembly of FANA, to be held in Abu Dhabi on November 15-17, he added.
They also discussed FANA's award to improve the quality of work with its members, while the participants were briefed on the results of a training workshop on time management and effective media during crises, he stated.
They reviewed a report submitted on holding the fourth symposium for Arab women journalists slated for next December in Morocco, hosted by Moroccan News Agency, he explained.
The committee invited FANA's news agency members to participate in that symposium due to its importance in defending the rights of Arab female journalists working in news agencies, he noted.
He revealed that the committee also discussed FANA's financial situation, and also prepared a report on its results and recommendations. (Pickup previous)
