Amir Holds Official Talks With Pakistan Prime Minister

The Amir HH sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and H E Shahbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, held an official session of talks in the Amiri Diwan this morning.

At the beginning of the session, HH the Amir welcomed the Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay. 
His Highness stressed the importance of building and developing brotherly and strategic relations between the two countries and expressed their intention to enhance economic partnership by raising trade exchange and promoting investments through the Qatar Investment Authority. In this regard, the Qatar Investment Authority announced its intention to invest $3 billion in the various commercial and investment sectors in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

For his part, the Prime Minister of Pakistan expressed his thanks to H H the Amir for the warm reception and hospitality, as he expressed his keenness to strengthen relations between the two countries to achieve common aspirations and develop them to broader horizons and multiple fields.

During the session, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to support and develop them in the fields of defense, economy, investment, trade exchange, energy and sports, in addition to discussing the most prominent regional and international developments of common interest, especially the efforts made by the two countries to combat terrorism.

The talks were attended by the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs HE Dr Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and Chief of the Amiri Diwan HE Sheikh Saud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Minister of Finance HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Transport H E Jassim Saif Ahmed Al Sulaiti and Minister of State for Energy HE Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi.

The session was attended from the Pakistani side by HE General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff; HE Miftah Ismail, Minister of Finance; HE Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Minister of Economic Affairs; HE Dr. Musadik Masood Malik, Minister of State for Petroleum Affairs; HE Khawaja Saad Rafique, Minister of Railways; HE Naveed Qamar, Minister of Commerce; H E Hina Rabbani Khar, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs; and a number of members of the official delegation.

His Highness the Amir hosted a lunch banquet in honour of the Pakistani Prime Minister and the accompanying delegation.

The Pakistani Prime Minister had arrived at the Amiri Diwan earlier, where an official reception ceremony was held for him.
