São Paulo – Egypt's Food Export Council (FEC) is assessing new strategies to ship different products to Brazil. The Arab country brought 13 companies to this year's APAS Show . The show is the biggest in the supermarket sector in Latin America. The initiative was carried out in partnership between the council and the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC).

In an interview with ANBA, the Outbound Exhibitions, Trade Missions & Membership Services manager of the FEC , Heba Soheil, explained this year, the focus was on showing the portfolio of Egyptian brands from different sectors.“We participated in APAS with 13 Egyptian companies, which brought different products, such as frozen and fresh foods , olive oils, garlic, dates, teas, and spices,” she said.

The executive has already outlined plans for participation in future editions of the show in Brazil.“This is the second time we have participated in APAS. And we are planning extensive participation next year, with small companies. We started assessing the market and seeing which products have the potential to succeed in Brazil,” she added.

Soheil also stressed the importance of producing and selling food for the North African country.“Egypt already exports to different countries. In 2021, we reached USD 4.1 billion in processed foods. For example, in terms of frozen strawberries, Egypt is the first in the world and leading date production. We are very well positioned in different markets,” she said.

In Egypt's trade balance, the Brazilian market remains in the spotlight, recalled the executive.“After the Mercosur agreement [with Egypt], we tried to increase exports to the region, and Brazil represents about 90% of the total exported to Mercosur. And we import different products from Brazil, such as coffee, peppers, nuts, and other products,” concluded Soheil.
