Parliament today mourned the murder of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) MP Amarakeerthi Athukorala.
Athukorala and his security officer were found dead in Nittambuwa last week.
The MP had reportedly opened fire on anti-Government demonstrators and fled with his security officer.
He was later found dead together with his security officer.
The media had reported that Amarakeerthi Athukorale had killed himself on Monday after being confronted by violent mobs.
However, forensic reports revealed that Amarakeerthi Athukorale had been murdered.
His body and that of his security officer had been found stripped. (Colombo Gazette)
