PM Warns Fuel Situation To Get Worse Over Next Few Weeks

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today warned that the fuel situation in Sri Lanka is expected to get worse over the next few weeks.

Issuing a statement today the Prime Minister said that he had talks with the relevant officials and assessed the fuel situation as well as shortcomings in other key areas.

He said it was found that the situation will get worse over the next few weeks before improving.

The Prime Minister said that he will be making a full statement on the issue tomorrow (Sunday).

Wickremesinghe said that he has had talks with diplomats and officials from other countries.

He said the talks have been positive and further negotiations will take place before agreements are reached.

“Talks have also begun with the International Monetary Fund (IMF),” he said.

The Prime Minister also said that India has already stepped in to offer assistance.

Wickremesinghe said that it will take about 2-3 months for the situation to improve. (Colombo Gazette)
