Al Khor Family Park has emerged as one of the major picnic places during Eid Al Fitr holidays as it received 2,383 visitors on the first day of Eid.
“Al Khor and Al Zakhira Municipality readied Al Khor Family Park to receive a large number of visitors during Eid holidays,” the Ministry of Municipality has tweeted.
Zoo section of the park is proving to be a major attraction for visitors where families with their children were spotted interacting with their favourite animals.
Children were very excited to see their favourite animals especially giraffes and monkeys.
Visitors also ride the train taking tour inside the park to enjoy the festivity. Children were seen busy in playing different games at the play pens.
The 240,000sqm Al Khor Family Park features a zoo, a waterfall and a battery-operated train, a spacious restaurant, mosque, museum, a mini-golf area, murals, a skating area, children's play area, basketball court, drinking fountain and many more recreational facilities.
The park has hundreds of animals of different species such as rhinoceros, crocodile, giraffe, bear, tiger, cheetah, monkey and many species of birds.
Other parks also attracted large number visitors including families and children. Expecting huge number of visitors, the Ministry of Municipality represented by the Public Parks Department announced to open public parks till late night during Eid Al Fitr vacation.
Al Furjan (neighbourhood) parks for families, women and children will open from 5am early morning to 1am. Al Khor Family Park will receive visitors from 8am until 12 midnight during Eid holidays.
Open public parks (without fences) will remain open 24 hours under the supervision of security guards.
Many people preferred to celebrate Eid holidays at beaches. To maintain privacy of families, the Ministry of Municipality has designated some beaches for women and families.
Al Mamlha Beach and Simaisma Beach are dedicated only for women. Al Ghariya Beach, Sealine Beach, Al Farkia Beach and Al Wakra Beach are designated for families. However, Al Kharji Beach is dedicated for bachelors and workers.
On the occasion of Eid Al Fitr where a large number of people prefer to go to beaches, the Ministry of Municipality has prepared a number of beaches for families and others exclusively for workers and bachelors.
The entry of single workers are strictly prohibited to beaches designated for families, the Ministry has tweeted.
Visitors lauded the local authorities for providing various type of recreational facilities including public parks, zoo, beaches, Corniche.
They also appreciated government move for organising different types of recreational programmes in coordination with partners from private sector for all segments of the community especially for children to enjoy Eid holidays.
