Tabla to launch dystopian novel by Libyan author in Brazil

São Paulo – Publishing house Tabla , which specializes in publishing in Brazil books originally from the Middle East, is preparing to launch a book written by Libya 's Ibrahim Al-Koni. O tumor [The Tumour] is on pre-sale until April 25 with a 30% discount. Pictured, the author in the awarding ceremony of the Man Booker International, which he was shortlisted for in 2015.

The book was originally published in Arabic in 2008 by the Arab Studies Institute in Beirut. The translation into Brazilian Portuguese is by Mamede Jarouche.

According to the publishing house, The Tumour is a profound and symbolic philosophical exploration. It dissects the concept of authority – the ruler and the ruled and the balance of power between the two. The author explores the relationship between man and existence, exposing the vulnerability of man in the wilderness of the world.

Ibrahim Al-Koni

Born in 1948, in the desert of the Tuareg people in Libya , Ibrahim Al-Koni spent his entire childhood there. The author learned to read and write Arabic when he was 12, and he studied comparative literature at the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute in Moscow and then worked as a journalist in Moscow and Warsaw. He has published more than 80 books, including novels, short stories, poems and aphorism inspired by the desert. His books have been translated into 35 languages.
