Abul-Gheit: Arab League supports efforts bringing Libyans closer together


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) CAIRO, April 18 (KUNA) -- Arab League Secretary General Ahmad Abul-Gheit reiterated on Monday, the League's support for international efforts aimed at converging views between Libyans.
This came during Abul-Gheit's meeting with the UN Special Adviser on Libya, Stephanie Williams, where they discussed the overall developments in Libya, Arab League said in a statement.
Abul-Gheit stressed during the meeting the importance of the international efforts leading to a way out of the current situation that the Libya is witnessing since the postponement of the national elections that were scheduled on last December 24, the statement added.
The UN advisor also tackled the political developments in Libya, including the current meetings of the joint committee of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State on the constitutional track, which has been held in Cairo since last Wednesday under the auspices of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL).
The meeting witnessed an exchange of views on the possible effects of developments in the international arena in general and the Middle East and North Africa region in particular on the Libyan file, the statement said. (end)
