São Paulo – The Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries , which established itself as the main gathering place for discussions between Arabs and Brazilians, will have its 4th edition on July 4. Besides serving its mission of connecting Brazil and the Arab countries, this year's event celebrates a special moment, the 70th anniversary of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC), which holds the event.

The forum takes place in a hybrid format, with an in-person part at the Hotel Renaissance in São Paulo and online streaming. Both versions are expected to attract officials from Brazil and the Arab countries, as well as businesspeople and opinionmakers from both regions. Registration to participate will open soon.

Digital forum in 2020 got some 10,000 viewers

Focusing on Legacy & Innovation , the forum will celebrate the history and transformation of the ABCC, which progressed together with the different moments of the Arab-Brazilian relation, and bring a reflection on the new era, marked by the need for innovation. ABCC president Osmar Chohfi (pictured above) says that this edition is special for both these two reasons, the 70th anniversary and for addressing innovation.

“Innovation is a prerequisite for the survival of companies and entities, both public and private,” Chohfi said. According to him, the COVID-19 pandemic period has brought to home how innovation can help modernize economies. The ABCC itself has implemented the Ellos Platform , which uses blockchain and plans on taking all Brazil-Arab trade transactions to the digital world.

Chohfi says that one of the goals of the forum is raising the awareness of authorities from Brazil and the Arab countries on the relevance of the trade between these two regions.“Another goal is bringing the business classes from Brazil and the Arab world closer together, identifying business opportunities and promoting the relevant of this relation to a wider audience,” he says. Chohfi says the forum is a great“echo chamber” of Brazil-Arab relation.

In addition to debates, the forum will make room for networking among the attendees. The Hotel Renaissance will feature a lounge for exhibiting brands and companies. In addition to the streaming of the forum, the online platform will bring a wide, diverse digital content, complementing the in-person attractions. There'll also be a special business schedule of activities during the event's week, whose details are yet to be announced.

The Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries' last edition in 2020 took place fully online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event got some 10,000 viewers from 61 countries and featured relevant Brazilian and Arab leaders, including Brazil's president Jair Bolsonaro and several ministers. The previous edition in 2018 featured then-president Michel Temer and ministers. A delegation of approximately 100 Arab businesspeople were in São Paulo to attend the forum.
