The signing of the MoU comes within the framework of the cooperation strategy between the State of Qatar and Switzerland in the field of employment and the improvement of the legal framework for better protection of migrant workers.

It is also a culmination of the efforts made by the State of Qatar to develop and modernise the labour sector during the past years, which included several important legislation for employment.

The MoU aims to enhance cooperation between the Min-istry of Labour and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in the labour field through exchanging expertise, experiences, and consultations on implementation and devel-opment mechanisms.

Under the MoU, the two parties will exchange infor-mation, experiences, and best practices in the field of expa-triate workers at the local, national, regional, and global levels, in addition to exchanging information on strategies, pol-icies, and regulations, as well as projects implemented in accordance with the policies, applicable laws, and internal procedures of both parties.

According to the MoU, the cooperation focuses on various areas, including labour admin-istration, the labour market, enforcement of labour laws, and women's participation in the workforce.

SDC is affiliated with the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in Switzerland and aims to coordinate Switzerland's efforts in development, activ-ities, and cooperation fields at the international level.
