Jordan - Huneiti: Armed forces continues its efforts in thwarting infiltration, smuggling attempts

Amman, Jan, 28 (Petra)-- Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen Yousef Huneiti stressed that the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab army continues its efforts in foiling infiltration and smuggling attempts with every available capabilities.
Applying recently-introduced new rules of engagement with regard to any smuggling or infiltration attempt, he said, adding that the whole process came to safeguard Jordan's security and stability and citizens alike.
He made his remarks during his visit, on Friday, to Prince Talal Mechanized Battalion/5, one of the Eastern Military Zone units.
Received by the zone's commander, Huneiti listened to a briefing on operations took place yesterday's dawn that led to the killing 27 smugglers and seizing large quantities of narcotics.
Huneiti also met with personnel of the brigade and conveyed the greetings of His Majesty King Abdullah, the Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army.
