Unsettled weather from“Storm Carmel” blankets Cyprus
Unsettled weather continues to blanket Cyprus.
As 'Storm Carmel' heads away from from the island, forecasters, say Monday will be mostly cloudy with local rain, isolated thunderstorms and snow expected in the higher mountains.
Up to 10 centimeters of snow has fallen on the highest reaches of the Troodos Mountain range over the weekend.
Today, Monday, will see the temperature rise to around 15 degrees inland and on the coast and to 3 degrees in the higher mountains.
The orange warning issued by the Meteorological Service for rains and storms last Friday (17/12) will remain in force until 13:00 at noon on Monday (20/12).
The last few days have seen an unsettled weather system centered over the area of Rhodes move south-eastwards to Cyprus.
During Saturday and Sunday, there was heavy rain, thunderstorms, near gale force winds and high seas on western coasts.
