Jordan - PM honours contributors to Oncology Department renovation at Al Bashir Hospital

AMMAN — Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Bisher Al Khasawneh on Tuesday participated in a ceremony organised by the Himmetna initiative to honour the supporters and strategic partners who contributed to renovating and upgrading the Oncology Department at Al Bashir Hospital.
The ceremony coincided with the start of receiving patients at the department under the supervision and management of the King Hussein Cancer Centre (KHCC), the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
During his speech at the ceremony, attended by Minister of State for Prime Ministry Affairs Ibrahim Jazi, Minister of Social Development Ayman Mufleh and Minister of Health Feras Al Hawari, Khasawneh highlighted the role of Himmetna initiative in rehabilitating and equipping the department in line with the vision of His Majesty King Abdullah to develop the medical sector and improve the level of health services provided to people.
The prime minister stressed the government's support for the initiative and its future projects aimed at developing the health sector and rehabilitating health and medical centres, pointing out that the initiative reflects“the true partnership between the public and private sectors”.
He referred to the cooperation agreement signed by the Ministry of Health with the KHCC to supervise and manage the Oncology and Hematology Department at Al Bashir Hospital, which contributes to enhancing the quality of treatment and providing optimal healthcare for cancer patients.
Himmetna founder and CEO Fadia Samara said that Himmetna is in the process of undertaking a project to rehabilitate and develop 25 comprehensive health centres throughout the Kingdom, in a way that contributes to reducing overcrowding in hospitals by providing primary medical procedures to patients in these centres.
