Celebrating Qatar National Day is embodiment of citizenship, belonging, pride in accomplishments: Education Minister

Doha: Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi stressed that Qatar's celebration of its National Day comes to commemorate the day when its founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani led the land towards establishment and unity.

On this glorious occasion, HE called for the continuation of instilling values of loyalty and belonging among the young generations, as well as consolidating citizenship, the value of their homeland and the rights they owe to it, and how to maintain its sustainable development in its economic, social, environmental and cultural dimensions.

In an interview with Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day, Her Excellency said that it is a source of pride that Qatar celebrates its National Day, while its people are holding onto their Qatari, Arab and Islamic identity, and the country is witnessing prosperity in social, cultural, economic, urban, scientific, technical and political aspects.

Her Excellency also extended congratulations to the leader of the modernization and development process, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, on the occasion of the countrys National Day.

On the modality of interpreting the National Days slogan 'Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust' in the educational sector, HE Minister of Education and Higher Education confirmed that schools carry out many in-class and extracurricular activities that enhance the national and cultural identity, and develop awareness of the diverse Qatari environment and the preservation of cultural heritage, in order to link students to the past, history and culture of their homeland.

The world is in a race towards the development of educational and pedagogical systems, and knowledge has become one of the most important inputs for building national economies, she said, emphasizing that future has become in the hands of the educational systems. She explained her point by describing the educational systems as the generator of knowledge and the leader of sustainable development in all its dimensions, stressing that 'whilst we celebrate our countys National Day, we must also pay attention to quality education and its outcomes.'

She affirmed that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education represents the cornerstone of the comprehensive development vision under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir.

Since the establishment of the state, the firm belief in education has remained unwavering, she said, underlining the taking over of what ancestors had started, as well as the exaltation and glorification of its outputs, until Qatar has reached a distinguished high level in education. She explained that this belief confirms the education's stability at the core of the political orientations of the state throughout its ages, pointing out that the late Sheikh Jassim was known for his strong passion for science and scholars.

She stressed that Qataris continue to hold onto the founders approach, values and principles, with which the people of Qatar from citizens to leaders, have grown up, indicating that the most profound expression of loyalty to the leader of Qatars modern renaissance would be through distinctive work and excellence in performance, to achieve the aspired future.

The ministry, in its various sectors, works to serve about 400,000 students in public and private schools, as well as their guardians, which means that it affects every person residing on the land of Qatar, she explained.

In a related context, she reviewed several development plans and programs for the various educational paths, in addition to the system of educational partnership between the public and private sectors, as well as efforts to localize jobs, training and qualification programs for teachers, and the usage of technology in the in the educational process as a strategic goal.
