German stocks decrease at beginning of trading on Friday


(MENAFN) On Friday, Sep. 24 German stocks decreased at the beginning of trading, with the benchmark DAX index plunging 81.87 points, or 0.52 percent, opening at 15,562.1 points.

The biggest winner amongst the county’s 40 greatest listed firms was healthcare firm Siemens Healthineers, surging by 0.84 percent, followed by plastic specialist Covestro with 0.50 percent and technology firms Siemens Energy with 0.29 percent.

Shares of Adidas plunged by 3.63 percent. The German sportswear maker was the biggest loser at the beginning of trading on Friday after U.S. competitor Nike reduced its sales estimate.

Germany’s Federal Statistical Office declared on Friday that costs of residential property in the April-June period expanded by 3.7 percent on the prior quarter and climbed 10.9 percent year-over-year, the biggest price rise since the start of the time series in 2000.
