France criticizes AUKUS union ignore

(MENAFN) France criticized the “regrettable decision” of the US, UK, besides Australia to create a new Indo-Pacific safety union without Paris.

Top French administration officials stressed that the decision “reinforces the need to raise the issue of European strategic autonomy loud and clear.”

Moreover, the creation of AUKUS shows that Australia is going to reject its Future Submarine Program (FSP) with France, and collect eight nuclear-powered submarines along with its new partners.

In line with the French ministers for foreign associations and military Jean-Yves Le Drian and Florence Parly, the US’ choice caused the “exclusion of a European ally and partner … at a time when we are facing unprecedented challenges in the Indo-Pacific region.”

Both ministers announced that the choice “signals a lack of consistency which France can only notice and regret.”
