Doha: Qatar Youth Hostels has been keen on the continued interaction with the youth from different groups during the coronavirus pandemic through a variety of activities to support the domestic tourism and promote youth skills, in light of the limited events and options due to the pandemic.
In this context, Qatar Youth Hostels launched the“Google Local Guide” programme under the auspices of some private companies. The programme for the age group of 16 years and above aims to highlight the importance of tourism and digital content, and expand the circle of participants and raise the level of participation, making it an integrated and suitable option for local and international tourists and for visitors to Qatar to attend events and visit tourist sites.
The“Google Local Guide” programme is one of Google’s recent programmes that enables people to add content on the Google maps, allowing them to write reviews, share photos, answer questions, add or edit places which is an important tool because there are known places that do not appear on the map.
The programme consists of five level, and participants will have to earn the highest points possible to move to the fifth and final level to win prizes, including prizes for the three highest points in the programme, a prize for the person who takes the most pictures and uploads them in the programme, and a prize for the person who adds the most new sites on the map.
