(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — The Jordan Press Association (JPA) on Tuesday held a sit-in on the association's premises in Amman in solidarity with Palestinians, especially Sheikh Jarrah residents, condemning illegal Israeli practices.
Yanal Al Barmawi, JPA acting president, said that the association is in direct contact with both the Federation of Arab Journalists and the International Federation of Journalists to ensure that the world gets the right information from reliable resources without bias.
He also stated that the JPA's number one priority is the safety of the Jordanian reporters who are working in Gaza, especially after the bombing of the tower where Al Mamlaka, a Jordanian media station, had an office.
Nasser Abu Baker, the president of the Palestinian Journalists Union, said that all Jordanian efforts are acknowledged and highly appreciated.
He called for immediate action towards ensuring the safety of the journalists in Palestine, especially in Gaza. He said that over 50 journalists have been killed and thousands have been injured over the last couple of years in Palestinian territories.
''The right course of action starts with revoking all trade agreements between Jordan and Israel, withdrawing the Jordanian ambassador from Tel Aviv and expelling the Israeli ambassador from Jordan,'' Barmawi said.
MP Yanal Al Freihat seconded Barmawi's comments.
Last week, professional associations decided to urgently support Gaza with both medical and financial assistance.
