Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a telephone conversation with President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H E Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo, last evening.
During the phone call, the Somali President expressed his sincere thanks to H H the Amir for the State of Qatar's efforts and endeavours to heal the rift between the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Republic of Kenya, which resulted in the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries. H H the Amir expressed his congratulations to the Somali President for this wise decision.
H H the Amir also held a telephone conversation with President of Kenya, H E Uhuru Kenyatta. During the phone call, President of Kenya expressed his sincere thanks to H H the Amir for Qatar's efforts and endeavours to heal the rift between Kenya and Somalia, which resulted in the restoration of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
H H the Amir expressed his congratulations to President of Kenya for this wise decision. H H the Amir also congratulated President of Somalia and President of Kenya for their decision to restore diplomatic relations.
In a tweet H H the Amir said: 'I congratulate both H E President Farmajo and H E President Kenyatta, for their wise and courageous decision to restore diplomatic relations. Our sincere wishes to the two neighbouring countries and their people for security and stability. I would like also assure that the State of Qatar will always strive for good relations and remain a peace maker.
In a related development, H H the Amir sent a written message to President of the Republic of Kenya, pertaining to bilateral relations and means of supporting and developing them.
The message was handed over by Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Counterterrorism and Mediation in Conflict Resolution, H E Dr. Mutlaq bin Majed Al Qahtani during a meeting with H E Kenyan President in Nairobi yesterday.
