Aurora Toastmasters Club (ATC) recently celebrated its centennial meeting virtually. The dignitaries and members were welcomed by ATC president Sahitya Reddy. The evening's proceedings began with a video which was made to commemorate the occasion.
It was followed by speeches from the past presidents of the club and the club's mentors.
The event was interspersed with humorous speeches, poetry recitations, rapid-fire sessions and an innovative title ceremony where every member of the club was awarded a fun title.
Dr Alpna Mittal, wife of India's ambassador to Qatar, graced the occasion with her presence.
In her address, she expressed concern over the Covid-19 situation in India and was thankful for the support shown by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani.
She also praised the Indian community's efforts.
Dr Alpna Mittal emphasised that the current situation was indeed tough on women, all over the world. She was appreciative of the club's efforts towards giving women a platform to hone their leadership and communications skills.
She signed off with the assurance of extending her support to the club in whichever manner she could.
The event was also graced by several distinguished dignitaries of the Toastmasters' fraternity of Qatar including: District 116 Director K Thayalan, District 116 Program Quality Director Manzoor Moideen, Division B Director Riana Pinto, Division G PQD Alar Mel Mangai, Area 27 Director Ngina Kieti, along with other known Toastmasters.
The evening ended on a high note, reiterating the motto of the club ‘Team work makes the dream work.'
