Rise witnessed in number of operating U.S. drilling rigs this week


(MENAFN) On Friday, Apr. 2 the weekly figures issued by Houston-based oilfield services firm Baker Hughes showed that the number of operating drilling rigs in the United States rose 13 to 430 rigs in the present week, a decrease by 234 annually.

These operating drilling rigs comprised 337 oil rigs in use in the U.S. oil fields, a rise by 13 from the prior week; 91 gas drilling rigs, a decrease by one from the past week; and two miscellaneous rigs, unaffected from the past week.

The 430 rigs comprised 416 land drilling rigs, a climb by 11 from the prior week; 14 offshore drilling rigs, an increase by two from the past week.

Amongst them, 391 are horizontal drilling rigs, 20 are vertical drilling rigs and 19 are directional drilling rigs.
