Five militants killed in W. Afghan cleanup operations

(MENAFN) Provincial government official Jilani Farhad said Tuesday in a statement that more than five insurgents have been killed on Monday when government troops carried out cleanup operations in Karakh district of Afghanistan's western Herat province.

The fatalities included a Taliban group commander Mullah Abdul Alim alias Khadim, said the spokesperson.

According to Farhad, cleanup operations have been also conducted in many other villages across the country to end the presence of militants.
However, no commentaries have yet been made by the Taliban militants who are active in parts of Herat province.
