Argentina: Flames wipes out section of Termes de Rio Hondo International Autodrone

(MENAFN) On Saturday, Feb. 6 section of the Termas de Rio Hondo International Autodrome in Argentina's province of Santiago del Estero, found around 1,150 kilometers north of Buenos Aires was wiped out by flames.

The blaze began about midnight on Friday in the ditch area and extended over the main building in the early morning until firefighters were managed to get it under control at around 4:30 local time.

The blaze led to the full demolition of facilities comprising the press room, race control, and the VIP lounges, while other regions were only a little damaged, stated Autodrome Director Hector Farina in a report.

The manager said that the racetrack "has full insurance against fire, so the issue of economic damage is covered," although he further said that reconstructing will probably need a long time.
