Jordan, Tunisia discuss industrial, development estates cooperation

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, Nov. 28 (Petra)- Jordan and Tunisia discussed implementing a number of joint plans in the field of establishing, managing and developing industrial and development estates, and exchanging relevant experiences and visits between the two sides.
The joint cooperation talks come to activate the terms of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two countries' governments in 2018, during the meetings of the Jordanian-Tunisian Joint Higher Committee, which the Jordan Industrial Estates Company (JIEC) and the Tunisian Industrial Real Estate Agency are tasked to implement.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, the JIEC said the two parties agreed, during the meeting held remotely, that the MoU will be implemented during the coming period, which will allow the exchange of experiences in the field of establishing, managing and developing industrial and development estates in a holistic approach.
Those estates are deemed the main economic tools that contribute to achieving an industrial growth through attracting investments, which is in line with the serious governmental willingness in both countries to strengthen this policy, the statement pointed out.
Speaking during the talks, JIEC's Director General, Omar Juwaid, said the company is proud of its nearly four decades of experience in the field of establishing, managing and developing industrial estates according to the best specifications.
Juwaid also praised efforts of the Tunisian ambassador to Jordan and the embassy staff to activate this cooperation and coordination between the various economic bodies and networking them to push the pace of joint economic development.
Juwaid said the company was able to provide all the appropriate prerequisites for the success of the investment environment in its various industrial estates, in implementation of the Royal directives and government plans to make these industrial zones the optimal environment and the largest incubator for industrial investment in the Kingdom to gain an international and Arab reputation in this field.
The company, he said, will provide all the capabilities available to Tunisian brethren, who also have advanced experience in this field.
For his part, the Director General of the Tunisian Industrial Real Estate Agency, Suhail Shaour, said its delegation will visit Jordan during the coming period to closely examine the reality of Jordanian industrial estates and visit a number of Jordanian industrial companies, stressing the necessity and inevitability of Arab industrial integration.
Cooperation with the Jordanian side will begin in the legislative and technical fields, as well as planning, development and management of industrial estates in terms of infrastructure and support services in both countries, Shaour said.
The work teams formed from both sides will work on an approach to the legislative environment and ways to attract investors, and the mechanism to provide facilitations to investors and attracting them in a manner consistent with modern technology, according to Shaour.
