Jeddah stormed by fuel tank fire, militants accused


(MENAFN) The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that Saudi Ministry of Energy confirmed that a terrorist attack on Monday caused a fire in a fuel tank in the north of the port city Jeddah.

According to the ministerial statement, a missile produced an explosion and caused the fuel tank fire at the petroleum products distribution terminal as of 3:50 a.m. local time (1250 GMT).

The fire had been extinguished without ant reports of casualtie, the statement said, adding that Saudi Aramco's fuel supplies were not affected.

The ministry warned that acts of extremism and disruption against vital installations, including the recent attack near the floating offloading platform in Jizan and previous attacks on oil installations in Abqaiq and Khurais, target the security and stability of global energy supplies as well as the global economy.
