The Director General of Supportive Medical Services at the Ministry of Health, Osama Al-Najjar, stressed the fear that Palestinian hospitals will not be able to accommodate Corona patients due to the large increase in injuries in all governorates, and that the main role to cut the chain of transmission is the commitment of citizens to preventive measures, adding that the numbers are likely to increase in light of the current situation.

Yesterday alone, 14 deaths and 1,486 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in Palestine, and this is the highest number of daily cases since the start of the pandemic.

Al-Najjar warned of the rapid spread of the epidemic in the Gaza Strip is due to overcrowding, explaining that the Ministry of Health will send in the coming days a shipment of medicines and medical supplies to hospitals in the Strip, and raised the number of intensive care rooms.

Al-Najjar indicated that the meeting of the Epidemiological Committee discussed the epidemiological situation and developed scenarios to confront the spread of the Coronavirus, in addition to discussing Palestine's access to the Coronavirus vaccine with international medical bodies after the vaccines were approved by the World Health Organization.

The Ministry of Health: Unprecedented escalation in the epidemiological curve

In turn, the advisor to the Minister of Health in Gaza, Fathi Abu Warda, said that most of the areas in the Strip are now classified as red areas, due to the sharp increase in Coronavirus infections and the unprecedented escalation of the epidemic curve.

Abu Warda warned of the running out of the European Hospital's capacity to receive Corona patients, noting that the intensive care rooms are accommodating about 50 to 60 patients, among them are young people who do not suffer from chronic diseases.

Abu Warda expressed hopes that the epidemiological situation would be brought under control, stressing that the citizen's awareness of the need to adhere to the preventive measures is the one that relies on him to avoid moving to the stage of closure of the affected areas in the Strip.

Abu Warda stated that, as a result of the large increase in cases of Corona virus, the programmed operations in the sector's hospitals have been suspended due to the state of emergency.

The advisor to the Minister of Health announced that within days, two trucks will arrive carrying urgent medical aid to combat Corona virus, including respirators and special medicines for patients with chronic diseases.
