New optical remote-sensing satellite set into operation in China

From the southwestern Xichang Satellite Launch Center, China effectively set into operation a new optical remote-sensing satellite at early afternoon on Monday.
The satellite Gaofen-13, with its high-orbit optical remote-sensing, was released into orbit by a Long March-3B carrier rocket.
The cited satellite will mostly be utilized for land surveys, crop yield speculations, environmental defense, weather forecasting, and early warnings, along with disaster avoidance and mitigation. In addition, it will provide economic enhancement supplying information services.
The launch by the Long March rocket series that took place on Monday was the 349th.
