Sri Lanka- Former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake remanded


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Former Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake, who was arrested yesterday, was today ordered to be remanded till 20 April.

Ramanayake was produced before the Nugegoda Magistrate by the Police said.

The Magistrate ordered that the former Parliamentarian be remanded.

Ramanayake was arrested yesterday for obstructing the duties of the Police.

He was arrested by the Mirihana Police at the Madiwela housing Complex.

Ramanayake said that he was arrested for attempting to distribute rice to families affected by the curfew. (Colombo Gazette)
