(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — The Jordan Red Crescent Society, in cooperation with the Kuwaiti Red Crescent Society, on Friday completed a four-day medical campaign for Syrian refugees at the Specialty Hospital.
Head of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society Hilal Sayer said that a team of six Kuwaiti doctors performed surgeries free of cost in the ophthalmology, urology, ENT and general surgery departments, serving 48 Syrian refugees through the campaign, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Sayer added that the campaign, which began on Tuesday, distributed food, in-kind and fuel assistance to Syrian refugees in Sahab, southern Amman, and devoted an entertainment day to children at the headquarters of the Jordan Red Crescent Society.
Muhammad Tarifi, director of public relations at the Jordan Red Crescent Society, said that the Kuwait Red Crescent Society has been offering assistance since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis, expressing hopes that such campaigns will continue in the future.
He noted that there is a permanent clinic for Syrian patients within the Jordan Red Crescent Hospital.
Also on Saturday, President of the Jordan Red Crescent Society Muhammad Hadid and President of the Iraq Red Crescent Society Yassin Abbas signed two cooperation agreements to treat Iraqi patients, Petra reported.
The first agreement includes treating Iraqi patients referred from the Iraq Red Crescent office at the outpatient clinics of the Jordan Red Crescent Hospital from Saturday until the end of 2020.
The second agreement involves training Iraqi cadres and enhancing their administrative capabilities in accordance with the laws of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
The agreement is valid for one year, and will be automatically renewed unless one of the parties withdraws, Petra reported
Furthermore, President of the University of Jordan Abdul Karim Qudah and Hadid recently opened a simulation laboratory in the Business Management faculty at the university.
The laboratory was established by the Jordan Red Crescent with support from the European Development Fund and in partnership with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Petra said.
