Police in Morocco have confiscated 1.625 tons of cannabis on Tuesday in Meknes city.

Two people with links to a criminal drug smuggling network were captured in the operation.

A vehicle, a sum of money and many materials were confiscated during the operation that was carried out in a store in Boufekrane town near Meknes city.

In spite of efforts to bust cannabis cultivation in the past decade, Morocco continues to be one of the world's largest producers of the drug.
