Obama Affirms Belief in Aliens, Denies They Are Kept at Area 51
(MENAFN) Former Barack Obama has stated that he believes extraterrestrial life exists, while dismissing long-standing claims that the US is hiding aliens at the secretive military base Area 51.
Speaking on the No Lie podcast with Brian Tyler Cohen, released on Saturday, Obama was asked whether aliens “are real” and replied affirmatively, adding: “I haven't seen them, and they’re not being kept in Area 51.” He continued: “There’s no underground facility, unless there’s this enormous conspiracy and they hid it from the president of the United States.”
Asked what he most wanted to know upon taking office, Obama joked, “where are the aliens?”
Area 51, a highly classified US Air Force facility at Groom Lake, southern Nevada, was officially acknowledged by the CIA in 2013, revealing that it had been used since 1955 for testing the U-2 spy plane and other experimental aircraft. Its secrecy has fueled decades of speculation about alien research, including claims of crashed spacecraft and meetings with extraterrestrials.
Although a few UFO sightings have been reported near the site, the CIA attributed them to U-2 test flights. Broader conspiracy theories have also emerged from hundreds of alleged UFO sightings elsewhere. Pentagon officials told Congress in May 2022 that nearly 400 reports of unidentified aerial phenomena had been logged by military personnel, up from 144 between 2004 and 2021. In 2024, the Pentagon emphasized it had “no evidence to indicate extraterrestrial life has visited the planet.”
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated he is not a “believer” in aliens, though he added he had met with “serious people that say there’s some really strange things that they see flying around out there.”
