Israel Keeps Violating Gaza’s Truce, Killing Twelve in Recent One
(MENAFN) At least 12 Palestinians lost their lives and several others were wounded on Sunday following Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, in what local authorities described as a new breach of the Oct. 10 ceasefire arrangement. Gaza’s Civil Defense reported that the casualties resulted from ongoing bombardment targeting multiple locations in the enclave since the early morning hours.
According to a medical source, five people were killed and others injured when an airstrike hit a group of civilians southwest of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
Paramedics and eyewitnesses said four additional victims died after a drone strike struck a tent sheltering displaced residents in the Al-Faluja area, west of Jabalia.
Elsewhere, one Palestinian was killed and several others were wounded in a strike targeting a civilian gathering near the University College in the Tal al-Hawa district, southwest of Gaza City.
Another attack claimed one life and injured three people near the western roundabout of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, according to local sources. Details surrounding the death of the 12th individual were not immediately clarified.
Separately, Israeli forces carried out large-scale demolitions of Palestinian homes northeast of the Jabalia refugee camp. The operations were accompanied by heavy artillery fire and gunshots from military vehicles stationed in the vicinity.
The ceasefire had brought an end to Israel’s two-year military campaign that began on Oct. 8, 2023. Palestinian officials report that the conflict resulted in more than 72,000 deaths and over 171,000 injuries, while leaving approximately 90% of civilian infrastructure damaged or destroyed. The United Nations estimates that rebuilding Gaza will require around $70 billion.
