(MENAFN- Jordan Times) AMMAN — The first chartered direct commercial flight from Seoul to Amman arrived to Queen Alia International Airport on Friday.
This flight, operated by KAL (Korean Air), is the first of three rounds of charter flights this year that can carry around 200 passengers. The next scheduled rounds are on October 2 and 7 respectively, according to a statement issued by the Korean embassy.
Recently, Jordan is becoming increasingly known to Koreans for its variety of tourist attractions, the statement said, adding that Korean tourists, through this flight, will be able to visit the natural splendours of Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea, as well as historical and religious sites, including Jerash, Mt Nebo, Madaba and the Baptism Site.
'This marks the beginning of a new era of tourism between Jordan and Korea,' South Korean Ambassador to Jordan Lee Jae-wan, was quoted in the statement as saying.
He added that he hopes 'more charter flights will be arranged to pave the way for regular direct flights between Amman and Seoul in the near future,' adding that he 'will take all measures to ensure the safety of Korean tourists during their stay in Jordan, in close cooperation with the relevant Jordanian authorities.'
