Sri Lanka- Key discussion held on Madrasa Act


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) Key discussion were held at the Prime Minister's office today on the proposed Madrasa Act.


Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said that he had discussions with the Muslim Affairs Minister, Attorney General's Department and other officials on the Madrasa Act.



He said that amendments to the proposed Act were discussed and a new draft will be submitted to cabinet for approval.


The Prime Minister also noted that Sri Lanka does not require a Sharia university.



He said that universities granting degrees must be open to all and this will also be looked into.
