UAE- Elderly Emirati loses 120 sheep in Ras Al Khaimah floods

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) An Emirati senior citizen lost 120 sheep in the recent flash floods that lashed Ras Al Khaimah, Khaleej Times has learnt.

The 75-year-old Abdullah Ali Al Shahabi lost all his sheep, worth Dh120,000, when his farm at the Kharran valley flooded. "I had built a 1.5- metre high barrier around the farm to protect the sheep against the floods. But this proved to be insufficient after the showers overflowed the 1.5m high barrier with an additional one metre," he said.

"Water flooded the entire farm killing all my 120 sheep valued at Dh120,000. The farm worker, who was wearing a life jacket, managed to rescue only five small goats."

The department of public works had attended hundreds of emergency cases during the floods, particularly close to the mountains and valleys.
