Jordan- Army Chief attends ceremony on Al Karamah Battle anniversary

Amman, Mar 30 (Petra) –– Deputizing for His Majesty King Abdullah II, Supreme Commander of the Jordan Armed Forces- Arab Army, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mahmoud Freihat, Saturday led a ceremony to mark Al Karamah Battle and Martyr's Day.

The ceremony, organized by the Jordan Association for Family Planning and Protection in cooperation with the armed forces and the security services, kicked off with a march at the Martyrs Memorial in which members of the armed forces and security services, youth and grassroots organisations and officials took part.

President of the association, Barakat Oujan said in remarks that the celebration is a tribute to the martyrs, who paid sacrifices and offered their lives to defend the country and repel the aggressor.

"The day of Al Karamah is one of the brightest and most unique images in the history of the struggle against the Zionist enemy, and victory over it," he said.

The event also saw poetry recitals, folklore dances and other performances by local troupes that extolled the true meaning of sacrifice for the country.
