Afghanistan- UAE reiterates support to Afghan owned peace process


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has renewed a multi-dimensional regional support to an Afghan-owned and led peace process, a statement from the Presidential Palace in Kabul said.

President Ashraf Ghani, at the head of a high-level delegation, arrived in Abdu Dhabi on an official visit, the statement said.

It added Ghani visited the brotherly country at the invitation of Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Upon his arrival, the president was warmly received by the Crown Prince at Qasr Al Watan inside the Presidential Palaec.

Both leaders discussed bilateral relations and ways to expand them in line with mutual interest of the two countries.

The UAE crown prince stressed sustained economic growth and development of different sectors in Afghanistan .

Ghani also insisted on improved bilateral relationship between the two countries and expansion of mutually benefited trade.

The president also hailed continued support from the UAE in the Afghanistan peace and reconciliation process.

He said the people of Afghanistan fully trusted the efforts of the UAE in the development and reconciliation of Afghanistan.

The two leaders emphasized on the importance of region's cooperation and support for the peace process under the ownership of the Afghan government and said that peace in the region required peace and stability in Afghanistan.

The statement said Sheikh Mohammad bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed his deep concern about recent floods that affected families in many provinces of Afghanistan and promised to assist them in near future.

The two sides promised to work closely in term of trade and investment and inked contracts in areas of culture, education , sports , mining, energy and agriculture .

The two leaders acknowledged the importance people to people contact and cooperation in areas of communication, human resources and creating jobs for young people.

Meanwhile, President Ghani also thanked the UAE for providing market and jobs to Afghan workers.

The two sides also stressed promotion of cultural and sports interactions between the two countries and emphasized on the importance of empowering women and the need to strengthen cooperation in this field, including through conferences, especially women's conferences.
