UAE to participate in Bahrain International Garden Show 2019

ABU DHABI, 19th February, 2019 (WAM) -- The UAE, represented by Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, ADFCA, is set to participate, for second time in a row, in the Bahrain International Garden Show, BIGS 2019, held under the theme "Agriculture: A promising future career choice", which runs from 21st to 24th February, in the capital Manama.

BIGS is held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of Bahrain, with the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al-Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty.

Thamer Rashed Al Qasemi, Head of Delegation to BIGS, said: "ADFCA's participation in the show aims at enhancing the UAE's contribution to the leading international events related to agriculture and environmental sustainability. BIGS is a key point of contact between all local entities in the Kingdom of Bahrain and other international bodies. Moreover, it is a real opportunity to exchange expertise and knowledge about projects of common interest."

Al Qasemi added that ADFCA also seeks to promote the best practices, projects, programs and activities it offers to its customers, consumers and partners, as well as opening up new business horizons.

"The authority aims to introduce the show's visitors to its exhibitions and forums it organizes in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, to attract food and agricultural companies and brief them with the ideal investment opportunities offered by the region and the UAE in particular. These exhibitions include SIAL Middle East which specialized in food and beverages, the Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture taking place in April 2019, and EuroTier, the world's leading trade fair for animal production which will be held in Abu Dhabi, in September," Al Qasemi noted.

He indicated that ADFCA's contribution to BIGS will feature a dedicated pavilion to showcase ADFCA's activities, services, efforts to raise the public awareness about the best food, agriculture and livestock practices, GIS project in Smart inspection of Farms and Barns, self-monitoring system for food establishments, and animal identification and registration system role to control epidemiology and efficient resource planning. In addition, the authority will distribute awareness-raising booklets and make visual presentation about ADFCA's achievements and projects, including Salamt Zadna Project, and ADFCA contribution to the Education system in the field of agriculture driven by the believe that Agriculture is a promising future career.

Stressing ADFCA's keenness on enhancing and streamlining communication among the government entities at GCC level, Al Qasemi said that such efforts will serve the common interests of all GCC countries in all fields, particularly food and agricultural security. ADFCA will highlight the distinguished reputation of Abu Dhabi and the UAE in those sectors by introducing participants to the authority's solid legislative framework with regard to food safety and agricultural sustainability. The food control authority will exchange expertise with government and non-government entities participating in the event, as part of its drive to share its knowledge and expertise to benefit the entire global community.
