Lebanon call on Int'l community to promote conditions for refugees return

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BEIRUT, Jan 20 (KUNA) -- Lebanese Foreign Minister Jibran Bassil on Sunday called on the international community to address the tragedy of asylum and to put every possible mean to find radical solutions to promote conditions for the return of refugees to their homeland.

Bassil said in a joint press conference with Arab League Secretary-General Ahmad Abul Gheit at the end of the Arab economic summit in Beirut, "the summit succeeded in ensuring the return of refugees ... and Lebanon did its duty to organize the event and was an opportunity for the Arab to communicate." He stressed that there is an internal Lebanese dispute over the return of the refugees, and if it had not been, the refugee crisis would not have taken place.

Bassil revealed that he prepared a letter to a group of countries and to the secretary-general of the Arab League and the UN to warn of the grave exposure of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, calling for measures by the Lebanese Foreign Ministry to face this matter.

For his part, Abul Gheit said that the statement of refugees in the Beirut Declaration was issued in full agreement of the members of the Arab League, reflecting the absence of any difference in this regard. (pick up previous) kbs.aa
